100 WC

“Umm... why?”, I ask. I was standing on the roof of a three-story building being asked to jump. Behind me, Charlotte, rolls her eyes.
“Because I said so! That’s how it works.” Her minions nod furiously.
“Look, I don’t think this is a-”
“Do you want to be in our group or not?!”, she snaps.
“No.” Silence. I can practically taste the confusion in the air. “Can I go?” I ask. I’d only followed them because I was lost and saw they were heading towards the food court. I didn’t think I’d end up here.
“Oh,” Charlotte says finally, a glint of menace in her eyes. She walks towards me, arms outstretched. I’m only a metre away from the edge of the roof. The wind buffets my face and suddenly she - wait; no. She takes my arm.
“Do you want me to get you an uber?” Charlotte asks. I audibly gasp, relieved. Not today!

Term 4

Term 4 has begun, which means pool and tan time for others and further retreat from society for me. Anyhow, we have exams and an alarmingly deep Social Sciences assignment ('What is art to you?'). Meanwhile I plan to procrastinate in my cave until the resulting cram session. That is when I'm not at Choir ("It'll be an experience!", - Me, Naive, Early 2018), rambling about worms, or watching dreadful daytime TV

I temporarily lost Ginger (my *surprise* ginger cat), but he was found 4 days later annoyed and locked in a shed. So generally all is well and I haven't been recruited by a cabbage worshipping cult; yet.

BATH Fighter Danced Orange Clumsily

A leaf, a fighter, struggles against the pounding breeze. Nearby her brother’s plucked from his stem, and joins the swirling mass. He danced wildly in the air before a sudden wind carries him upwards, towards the sky. His siblings swiftly follow, a horde of speckled mustard, apricot and tangerine. Then the wind lessens, and they drift blankly down. They weave nimbly between the highest branches before plummeting, mere metres from the grass. Floating above a bath of orange, our leaf spots others who’ve resolved apon the ground. Clumsily, he skims the earth, then settles in for a final rest.

100 Word Challenge 28/5/18

The sun has risen in a red sky. It had been raining all morning, and the downfall had washed away the spilt blood of the recent scuffle. I lie wincing on the muddy outskirts of a hostile village, hidden from the enemies sight. Last night they sliced deep into my thigh with their weapons, and blood is still seeping from the wound even now. Through muffled shrieks, I untie my makeshift tourniquet and firmly press my hands against the wound. Flinching, pain shoots up my body and a shriek escapes my mouth. My shriek turns into a whimper, and accept that that red dawn would be the last I’ll ever see.

Beige is the new black

A killer. A masked murderer. But also a sweet rest home resident adored by her peers. Could she be both? I’ve been assigned to interrogate Mrs Dolores Gillian Waller, who at age 75 was diagnosed with split personality disorder. Setting aside her file, I look to the little grey haired lady across from me. Her pale blue eyes seem warm and trusting, not like the cold, dead eyes of those I’ve previously questioned. I think back to a statement from the case folder; “Mrs Waller seemed familiar with the murder weapon and victim, however, she couldn’t believe what she had done.”
I’m underqualified, I think. This is a job for a psychologist.

Another Reflective Question!

Where did I meet succces?
In music today I finally got through 'Ten Guitars' without stuffing up.
Where did I encounter difficulties?
In maths today I did the Otago Maths Challenge, in which I got 4/5. I got the first question wrong because of a silly mistake and I plan to deal with this by figuring out what I did wrong and planning how I'll approach similar questions in the future.
Most pride filled moment -
In PE today I didn't get a football in my face. Pride!

The Mystery Meal

I was in a restaurant with my mother, and I’d ordered her my favourite dish. It was called ‘The Mystery Meal’, named so because the staff would never tell you what it was made of.
Suddenly the doors of the restaurant swing open, and four large delivery men pulling on a rope dragged a strange animal inside. It had the front of a unicorn (horn and all), with the iridescent back half of a fish. Mum and I stared listlessly as the struggling creature was hauled through to the kitchen, it’s emerald tail disappearing behind the door.
After finishing up our meal, Mum called for a waiter and we read the dessert menu. Taking our time deciding, we eventually agreed on Sorbet ice cream.
Later at home, I randomly found myself wondering what’s used in ‘The Mystery Meal’. Mushrooms maybe?
