100 Word Challenge 8/3/18

Rumors

Popularity. Relationships. Back talking. Rumors live like and die like flies, short lived and irrelevant, but now so common it seems acceptable to spread lies and exaggerations without consequence. The usual string of stories and ever constant use of the word 'apparently' is getting tiring to me, and an example of a definitive source of chitchat is unprecedently rare. But why is unconfirmed gossip part of  regular pupil talk anyway? Well, to answer that I'm sad to announce that 'Why don't we talk about Algebra!?' isn't a common conversation starter among Year 8 students. But what if I was in charge? I'm not sure what that would be like, as I'm fairly sure I won't ever be.
